‘The Girls Next Door‘ is a reality series that premiered on August 7, 2005. The Girls Next Door TV Show is currently running into its fifth season. The series basically revolves around the lives of three, twenty something young girls who choose to live with 82 year old Hugh Hefner, in his Playboy Mansion. The young girls who appear on the show are Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt, and Kendra Wilkinson. The series covers the personal lives and the activities of these girls along with that of Hefner, inside the Playboy Mansion. Generally, Hefner appears on the show with other playboys and most of the time with celebrities too, in order to make the series interesting and attract more audiences.
Apart from this the series also focuses on other playboy related events like Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, Playmate test shoots at Playboy Studio West, Operation Playmate, party night, birthday parties, and most importantly the personalities and real lives of each of the girls.
Coming down to the girls on the show, Holly Madison is one of the official seven girlfriends of Hugh Hefner and she moved to his mansion when Hugh invited her. Soon she moved to his bedroom too, when two of Hefner’s girlfriends left. The second girl on the show is Bridget Marquardt. Bridget always wanted to become a playmate and had also sent a letter on how to become one. She was once spotted by Hefner and soon became one of his girlfriends. She is staying in the Playboy Mansion since 2002. The third girl on the show is Kendra Wilkinson. Hefner spotted one of her painted pictures as she was working as a ‘painted girl’ that aroused a lot of interest for her and soon she too moved in the playboy mansion along with her dogs Raskal and Martini.
The success of the show is such that it has appeared on the cover of the Playboy three times till date. In order to celebrate the success of the show a nude picture of the trio was published in the Playboy in 2005. This was repeated the next year too. Last year in 2008 the third picture of the girls was published.
Last year, in 2008 Holly Madison left the show after having a break up with Hefner. This year Kendra too will be moving out from the playboy mansion as she is getting married to NFL player Hank Baskett. The wedding will take place at the Playboy Mansion only where Hefner will reportedly be giving the bride away. New girls will be joining him in the next season of the series and no one is sure how will it be like post break up for the girls and for Hefner, himself.
But, anyways the show is still on and is running with great success.
